Below are the main restrictions imposed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Though
all of these apply, we can help you determine if there are any other restrictions
that will apply to your situation.
Only one dock
is allowed per deeded lot
There must be
50’ between docks at full pool. This will be determined on
a first come, first serve basis.
A dock can not
extend more than 1/3 of the distance across a cove at full pool.
There must be
4’ of water underneath the gangway connection to the dock at full
pool.
All docks must
have an approved dock plan submitted to the Corps by the dock builder.
The maximum
allowable square footage of a dock is 1120 square feet with a maximum side
of 40’.
The minimum
allowable square footage of a dock is 200 square feet with a minimum side
of 10’.
The gangway
must be at least 16’ long and no longer than 60’.
The gangway
must be at least 3’ wide and no wider than 6’.
All covered
docks can have a maximum of a 2’ overhanging roof.
Any permanent
attachments such as Jet Ski platforms will count in square footage, unless
they are mounted in the dead space between the dock and the shore.
